A simple guide to applying for a Covid Rent 3 subsidy in the Czech Republic – including a video tutorial

Below, I wrote the simplest possible instructions for applying for a Covid Rent 3 subsidy.

You can obtain the subsidy if:

  1. you belong to a group of subjects restricted in business based on a decision of the government of the CR,
  2. Newly, if you could do business without restriction but your revenues decreased by at least 50% due to the emergency and crisis measures adopted in the 4th quarter of 2020 compared to the 4th quarter in 2019. Here you can find a list of businesses (Article I, paragraph 1) that were exempt from governmental restrictions.

You have the opportunity to obtain the following subsidy

  • 50 percent rent,
  • for a period of three months: October, November, December 2020.

How do I apply for a subsidy?

The AIS MIT portal will simply guide you through the application. You only need two things to fill it in:

  • you need to establish electronic identity on editentita.czhere you can find options on how to obtain an identity. However, the simplest is identification with the help of NIA ID, for which only a data box is sufficient and you don´t have to install special software or have a chip,
  • a rental agreement in your hand so that you can copy the data to the portal. If you´ve already applied for a COVID Rent 2 subsidy and the application has been satisfied, the AIS MIT portal will offer the import of the data into the application from COVID Rent 2 which means that you don´t have to enter new data.

Below you will find a video tutorial for entering information into the portal:

What documents should I provide?

In total, you will only need 4 documents, of which two are affidavits and two proof of rent payment:

  • Affidavit from the receiver of the subsidy (i.e. yours). This document is automatically created by the AIS MIT portal when entering information. It is necessary to officially verify your signature at a Czechpoint.
  • Affidavit of the landlord concerning the rental relation. This document is automatically created by the AIS MIT portal when entering information. It isn´t necessary any more to officially verify the landlord’s signature at a Czechpoint.
  • Document confirming payment of the usual amount of rent for two consecutive months from July 1, 2019 to September 30, 2020 (if the rental agreement was concluded after July 31, 2020, the document will be the proof of rent payment starting with the conclusion of the rental agreement through to September 30, 2020). This can be proven by an account statement, a bank confirmation of the payment made or a receipt.
  • Proof of payment of at least 50 percent of the rent for the months of October, November and December 2020. This can be proven by account statement, bank confirmation of payment made or a receipt.
  • + For applicants whose businesses haven´t been closed and who show a decrease in revenues, an affidavit will be generated in the AIS MIT portal confirming this decrease for each establishment stating the amount of sales for the 4th quarter of 2020 and for the 4th quarter of 2019, in case the business was started after October 1, 2019, stating the amount of revenues for the 4th quarter of 2020 and for the 3rd quarter of 2020.

There is no need for landlord to participate financially, their signing an affidavit will be sufficient.
